I had a contracted out occupational pension from 1978/79. What was the DHSS informed me in 1985 that it had identified the pension but was unable to advise me what amount was available to me for refund and that this is a matter between employer and employee. Having eventually tracked down the organisation which took over the pension scheme (not my employer), it insists that all of the funds have been paid to government and that it will form part of my state pension. It refuses to refund me. This doesn’t make sense and it is not referred to in my history of NI contributions which I have made. Can anyone enlighten me please?
